Registration Results

Prior to register for the tournament, please make sure you have renewed your 2022-2023 membership or sign up to become a member via link:

Due to the venue's capacity limit, the registration will be capped at 40 players.

Start Time: 1:00PM on Saturday December 10th. 

Venue:  Calgary Chess Club (Suite 274, 3359-27St NE, Calgary).

Schedule: 1:00 – 1:15  Registration/Check-In 

                  1:30 Christmas gathering and treats will be provided.         

                        2:00 4-round tournament begins

                 (Beginner, Novice and Intermediate Sections likely finish around 4:00; Open Section likely finishes around 5:00.)


Format: Players are placed in the following sections according to their ability

* Beginner

* Novice

* Intermediate

* Open


Prerequisite: 

- CFC ID is strongly recommended when you register for this event. To become a CFC member, you must complete BOTH steps: 1). create an ID on GoMembership and 2). buy a CFC membership.  You can follow the detailed steps on the CFC webpage to become a member: https://www.chess.ca/en/players/membership-join/#:~:text=To%20become%20a%20CFC%20member,2)%20buy%20a%20CFC%20membership
- The table below listed recommended section enrollment based on CFC ratings. Players are allowed to play up a section should you choose so.

- The final section assignment will be determined by the Head TD. 

Time Control:  15min 10sec

Prizes: There will be trophies for 1st and 2nd places in each section and Girls, and medal for 3rd place in each section. Other participants will be awarded a token.

Fees:  Annual Membership $10. Tournament Fee $15.

Discounts: $3 sibling discount and $7 discount for bringing a friend who is new to the club. 

Registration:Register the tournament using the “Registration” button at the top of the page, before 10:00 PM on December 9th. 


Disclaimer: 
We have limited volunteers onsite. Parents are solely responsible for the safety and security of the players in between rounds and after the tournament has completed. Also, we ask you please kindly notify the volunteers at the front desk if you decide to pick up your kids before all rounds are completed.
