2025 Calgary School Championship Tie-Break Rules

1)    If teams are tied for 1st or 2nd team prize the following tie break will be applied:

 

      All tied teams will play a one game blitz (3 2) match between the top 4 players.  If there is still a tie the procedure will be repeated.

 

2)    If there is a tie for the first 3 individual places or top girl the following tie-break will be applied:

      If two players tie for a place they will play a 2 game blitz (3 2) match and repeat if still tied.

      If more than two are tied they will play a single round robin blitz (3 2) and repeat if necessary.

 

3)    If a tie is for the top 4 players of a team, or for individual places below 3rd the following tie-break procedure will be applied:

 

a)    Head to head (if all those tied played each other)

b)    Buchholz (Sum of all scores of opponents).

c)     Buccholz cut 1 (Sum of all scores of opponents except lowest point scorer).

d)    Sonnenborn-Berger (Sum of all scores of opponents you won against and half the scores of opponents you drew).

e)    Most wins

f)      Most games with black
